The Nicholson City Council is considering raising fees for business licenses.
The council discussed the rate at a work session Thursday night. The current fee is $50. City attorney Jody Campbell recommended that the council raise the fee to $100.
“Our current fee structure is well below other cities in Jackson County,” said Campbell. “I think we’re charging $50 where most cities are charging greatly in excess of that.”
The fee will be a flat-rate fee paid yearly by business owners in Nicholson. Invoices for this year’s license fees have been postponed until the council makes a decision about the increase.
The council will vote on the topic on Monday, Dec. 9.
