The Jackson County Board of Education is considering a calendar for school year 2014-2015 that has 176 days of instruction for students and 182 days for teachers.
The calendar calls for school to begin on Aug. 8, 2014 and end on May 21, 2015. Teachers would begin work on Aug. 5 and have one day of post-planning on May 22.
Thanksgiving break week would be Nov. 24-28 and Christmas break Dec. 22-Jan. 2. Spring break would be April 6-10, 2015.
Under the plan, there would be two long weekend breaks: October 10-13 and Feb. 13-16.
No action on the calendar was taken at the BOE’s meeting Monday night.
