An 11-year-old Commerce boy came within minutes of undergoing treatment for rabies when officials misplaced the head of a kitten sent to the Centers for Disease Control to be tested for rabies.

But an insistent emergency room doctor intervened, the CDC tracked down the misplaced package, and the test turned out negative for rabies.
Kyle Welch, to say the least, was greatly relieved.
“I didn’t want to get the shots,” he said at about 5:00 Friday as he cuddled Miriam and Abigail, surviving siblings of the six-week old kitten whose bite started the whole scare.

Also, regarding the first comment from Cody Denton. I thought he was a 9th grader in school, so I don't understand how he posted a comment on the first day of school during the day when he would have been at school unless someone posted it using his name. I think if he wasn't at school his mother needs to worry about him being at school instead of posting comments. Oh, also, I thought Kyle Welch (the boy in the story) was Cody's younger brother. You would guess from reading his comment he didn't know this family. Sounds to me like somebody's just looking for a law suit !!
