An empty poultry truck went out of control on North Elm Street in downtown Commerce early Thursday morning, crossed over the railroad tracks, went down the embankment and came to rest against buildings on North Broad Street.
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
“It shut the traffic off on Broad Street,” noted city manager Pete Pyrzenski.
The accident occurred at around 6:15 a.m., a time when northbound traffic was light. No other vehicles were involved.
