All local schools were closed today (Wednesday), as well as most government offices, thanks to icy roads left from the areas' first winter storm.
Snow began to fall at about noon on Tuesday. By 10 p.m., the precipitation amounted to close to an inch, but temperatures in the low 20s Wednesday morning led officials to close schools and government offices over concerns about icy roads.
Meanwhile, some businesses opted to open later in the day Wednesday, while others closed for the whole day — and many managed to stay open to continue serving the public.
Temperatures were expected to climb to the high 30s today, dip down to 25 early Thursday morning and then begin a warming trend that would lead to highs of about 55 Friday and Saturday.
