The Commerce Police Department has taken out a warrant on a local mother for violating the state’s compulsory school attendance law.
According to the incident report, a Commerce Middle School administrator reported that she had notified the 33-year-old white female by mail that she and her son must attend a conference with the school’s attendance review board. The boy had 15 unexcused absences as of Feb. 3. The two did not show up for the conference.
The woman withdrew the boy from school on Feb. 5 and the attendance review board asked that charges be brought against her.
