Officers of the Commerce Police Department had to respond to five domestic incidents or relationship-related disputes over the past week.
They responded to a Williford Street residence at 3 a.m. after a 57-year-old white male called police to report that the front door of his daughter’s residence was ajar. The officer entered to find a message on a chalkboard — “U are forgetting this is my home to,” apparently left by her estranged husband. Police determined that the man had entered the house and removed the deadbolt lock from the front door.
The complainant told police that the two were separated. The officer told the man that the husband had the legal right to enter the house since the couple is still married.
