Initial reports from witnesses that the gunman used an assault rifle proved incorrect. The weapon was a shotgun loaded with buckshot.
Andrew Chambers, Commerce, operations manager at the FedEx Ground Facility on Airport Road in Kennesaw, was on duty at the time of the shooting there Tuesday morning.
Family members say he did not see the actual shooting but did see one of the victims afterwards. He and other employees were evacuated to the airport for questioning.
Six employees were wounded, two of them critically. Police say the suspect, reportedly a 19-year-old male who took his own life, was heavily armed and had explosive devices. He was reportedly firing an assault rifle.
