The Jackson County Relay For Life has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 14, at Jefferson Memorial Stadium. It will be a much smaller event than had been planned for May 30-31, since people have already gotten plans under way for other activities and may not be able to attend.
The Relay will be from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. and there will not be a full relay setup. There will be no campsites, but teams may want to set-up tents and carry out their team fundraisers. There will be raffles and fundraisers.
A lot of luminarias were sold and anyone who would like to see them lit and remember those who were memorialized and honored should attend.
There will be an opening ceremony and a Survivor Lap to honor the survivors winning their battles with cancer.
“The community is urged to come support this rescheduled and shortened relay,” a spokesperson said. “It is still our way to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer in the hope that cancer will be beaten.”
