The political conventions are over. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the official Democratic Party nominees and John McCain and Sara Palin are the Republican nominees. OK, online readers, which ticket do you like and why?
Do you like Obama's youthful vigor or his call for change? McCain's experience, war service or support for staying the course in Iraq? What makes you like the McCain-Palin ticket or the Obama-Biden combination?
Is it Obama's oratory or his opposition to the Iraq war that sold you? Or, is it McCain's reputation as a maverick or his selection of a little-known Alaska governor as his running mate? Tell us which of the presidential candidates gets your vote and why.
For that matter, tell us why you like the VP nominees. Do you like Biden's experience or prefer Palin's lack of connection to Washington, D.C.?
Here's your chance to weigh in on what you like about the candidates. Have at it.
Despite Obama's repeated claims and attempts to tie McCain to the Bush administration, McCain has not supported Bush 90% of the time (a more accurate number would be closer to 45%), and based on his record I don't believe McCain would just facilitate a continuation of failed policies and “more of the same”. How quickly we forget that 4 years ago there was a strong effort to draft McCain as the Democratic VP nominee. Obama on the other hand is a very reliable vote for the Democrats in the Senate. I would issue a challenge to name one piece of legislation where Obama broke party ranks. Obama promises to bring change to Washington, and in his nomination address stated that change does not come from Washington, it goes to Washington. Last time I checked, Obama is a U.S. Senator and has been for 4 years. What has he changed since he went to Washington? Maybe someone can enlighten me on some of the legislation he has introduced or some of the reforms he has brought about.
I also believe McCain is more precise and specific with his proposed policies. During his nomination speech at the RNC, he detailed, among other things, his economic plan (including plans to address unemployment), his energy strategy, and his education policy. Obama on the other hand simply states the problem without offering any specific solutions. What makes matters worse is that no one seems to be fact checking or questioning Obama’s rhetoric on issues such as the economy. For example, the day after McCain’s acceptance speech, Obama criticized McCain for not addressing unemployment and being out of touch with the middle class. I have to wonder if Obama actually listened to McCain’s speech. In McCain’s speech he stated that “We’re going to help workers who’ve lost a job that won’t come back find a new one that won’t go away”. Is Obama simply hoping that Americans are too ignorant to pick up on this, or is he hoping that the repetition of a lie can cause it to be become factual in the realm of public opinion? With many issues I feel that Obama just, as he says, “doesn’t get it”. I believe we need to get out of Iraq, but I believe Obama’s strategy would only serve to further decrease stability in the region and increase the development of Islamic terrorists. I feel that Obama’s tax plan would severely hamper small business owners. His proposals have concerned business taxes, but a small business owner is not going to be that worried about business taxes – he is going to be worried about the money in his pocket that is affected by income taxes. When the business owner’s financial well being is affected, it is passed on to employees, often in the form of layoffs. I don’t believe Obama’s energy policy is as viable as McCain’s either. We need to continue developing alternative sources of energy as the ultimate solution, but until they are accessible, we need to focus on what we can do to alleviate the current difficulties we are experiencing. Drilling for oil (China’s drilling off the coast of Florida , why can’t we) and building more refineries is a good start. If nothing else, it should shift the international energy dynamic in our favor. I also liked McCain’s statement in his nomination address where he said, “My fellow Americans, when I’m president, we’re going to embark on the most ambitious national project in decades. We’re going to stop sending $700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much, and some of that money…We’ll attack – we’ll attack the problem on every front”. To me, this just makes too much sense.
I like McCain’s choice of Palin as his running mate. It’s this kind of out of the box thinking that Washington needs. I feel with Biden, Obama just chose another rank-and-file Democrat. Palin’s experience may not be as broad as Biden’s, but I feel her experience easily eclipses Obama’s. I feel Palin’s performance in executive positions has been noteworthy and demonstrates an innate aptitude of leadership skills. I also believe this selection of a Washington outsider brings a much needed fresh perspective to the issues.
John McCain is the most qualified and most experienced candidate in this election, and his positions on the issues are the ones that can bring about the most productive, effective, and necessary changes in our nation. Barack Obama is a skilled orator, but I feel he is just exploiting American’s false hope and desire for change without having to account for his positions on issues. I hope that the voters objectively consider the candidates’ positions on the issues and not base their vote on demographics and rhetoric.
As far as the war, I don't like that we are still in Iraq. I completely support our troops who are currently serving, and I think we all want them to come back home safe and as soon as possible; however, we need to remember that these men and women willingly enlisted in the Armed Forces, and they were fully aware of the potential dangers including the fact they may not make it back home. McCain has been sharply critical of the Bush administration's handling of this war, and it would be highly unlikely he would continue the same approach. I feel McCain has the best strategy for bringing our troops back home safely without creating further chaos in the Middle East, where Obama's strategy just involves recalling the troops without worrying about the potential ramifications.
In response to the allegation that I am "too Republican", this is not a matter of partisanship but rather a matter of being able to adequately support my positions and comprehensibly explain why I am voting the way I am in this important election. I’m voting based on the issues, and not on race, speaking ability, or the so-called “Change We Can Believe In” doctrine of false hope and empty promises.
Obama/Biden!!
Funny how you haven't included any facts or encouraged people to dig on their own about Obama's relationships with Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, or Bill Ayers. How about checking into Obama's bipartisanship claims? How about looking into what Obama has to say about energy policy, like when he talked about how properly inflating your tires would alleviate the need for offshore drilling? How about checking the accuracy of statistics included in Obama's statements? Of course, Obama's lack of experience can make it difficult to see where he really stands on many issues. With Biden you can probably start by taking a look at his plagiarism record, but his comments on Obama during the primaries pretty much tell you all you need to know.
By the way, you failed to mention why you were voting for Obama/Biden.
McCain wants to bomb Iran....c'mon....we don't need a
leader to be saying stuff like that....he will get us
in trouble.....McCain has no idea about economics...he
said so himself.
Both candidates are saying they want to lower taxes...
which is correct. However, look at the breakdown of the
tax ranges between the two of them...in the range of most of us,
36,000 to 69,000, you will have $1100 more in your pocket
while McCain will make you save $325....do the math..
The biggest tax cuts McCain is offering up is those who
make more than 167,000/year....that's not me and more than
likely not you either....but go ahead and vote for higher
taxes with McCain.....I'll pray for you.
if you have any doubts that it is real read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page... or click on any of the other posted issues that were being challanged at the time of this posting !
and as for the plane that was listed on e-bay ( she never said she sold it on e-bay )here's her quote ! "as for the palne i put it on e-bay" big difference than i sold it on e-bay ! and as far as the "troopergate" thing it is more or less a nasty divorce issue that was btw her sister and the brother in law and we all know how nasty those can get! but for the record the trooper did admitt to useing a taser on his 10 yr old step son and that he did make threats to the father in law and the enstranged wife ( because he was angry at how the divorce was going many of us have been there !) so all in all i truly think this "troopergate" thing will blow over as soon as the obama camp finds it can't use it against her in this election !

What happened?????
As far as people making a high six figure income right out of college .... In what world do you live? The only way to make that kind of money right out of college - ANY COLLEGE -- is to know someone or to win the lottery.
It took my husband a few years to work his way up the ladder. Generally you start at the near the bottom and work your way up.
And then for, you know, some 20 years, Obama has been working with Ayers, certainly since 1995, on a series of foundations: the Annenberg Foundation and the Woods Foundation. They are on boards of directors together, and in the Annenberg Foundation, Ayers created it, and Obama was on it. And together they spent the money of these foundations to implement their radical socialist agenda.
A lot of people say, no, they just know each other. They're not friends. Just because -- you know, just because they worked on boards together.
Obama was in 1995 going to take the seat of Alice Palmer, who is also an extreme socialist. She's an African-American who had actually gone to Russia and had attended communist party meetings and reported on them. And it was all very much of a leftist gathering.
Ayers and Dorns were like the stamp of approval on Obama, introducing them to their click of leftist friends for funding and for advancing his candidacy. So that very beginning was a chosen intentionally association with Ayers and Dorns to launch Obama`s career, and Obama knew exactly what he was doing picking him. Senator Obama is the one who's saying, "This is just another guy in my neighborhood," but in fact, that's not true at all. It may turn out to be that they had a much closer relationship through their work together on the Annenberg Challenge to create their ideas to control the government and its people that's the challenge!
His agenda -- I believe, in 2001, in which Ayers was unrepentant, saying that he wished he bombed more. And obama's greatest influence is
Saul Alinsky he was a radical socialist organizer. His main book was "Rules for Radicals." His methodology was you go in as a community organizer. That means, really, a rabble-rouser.
You rub raw the discontent of the community, almost in a communist sense. You find class antagonisms. You learn to speak the grievances in the people's own logic and language, and then you go for radical redistribution of income and wealth through gaming power and mobilizing the community. Making them think that your working for them by doing small stuff that seems to help but ultimately you gain far more than the people you help it's a trick to get them on your side because it seems you care about them and in turn they move you to the top of the political ladder!
The connection to Saul Alinsky is In
Fact this, Alinsky had to change as his mantra. And by it, he meant radical socialist redistribution of income from the haves to the have-nots. That was the primary purpose.
Alinsky dedicated "Rules to Radicals" to Lucifer, whom he called the first radical. And he said it was a Machiavellian approach, which means you’ll lie, do whatever you need to do to get power, because the haves were going to lose to the have-nots, who were being championed by this community organizer. (Obama)
The theme is common that Senator Obama made in San Francisco about people are bitter, clinging to God and to guns. That is actually a paraphrase of something Saul Alinsky wrote in that same book, in "Rules for Radicals."
A very condescending view that he has of the middle class as people who are lost, who -- he says that they turn bitter, because they cling to certain fixed points that are elusory, but very real to them. They ask questions that Alinsky considers meaningless, like what does our flag mean to you? Interestingly, something that was just said at the Republican convention. That's Alinsky. You know, obama’s his influence coming through.
Just take a look at his taxation policies. He wants to increase capital gains, because he says they're unfair.
The point is that he clings to this relationship. And he's even defending Ayers now. His campaign is defending Ayers, despite the fact that he's an unrepentant terrorist who set bombs and may, according to congressional testimony, may have even been involved or had knowledge of a bombing that killed somebody. That's the important thing.
Alinsky taught to say whatever is necessary to get power. That's the Machiavellian approach. When Obama articulates policy positions, especially moving to the center, it may be completely calculated. We will not see the real Obama until its too late then we are going to be stuck in a radical system that will take a civil war to get out of!
JUST SO YOU KNOW SAUL ALINSKY’S BOOK “RULES FOR RADICALS “ WAS DEDICATED TO LUCIFER ! THE VERY FRIST RADICAL !

57.) Rev. Meeks has nothing to do with my campaigning - Lie. Rev. Meeks appeared in ads for your Senate Campaign, donated to you, and helped raise money, then AND NOW. He also seems to despise America as much as Rev. Wright.
58.) My wife didn't mean America is ignorant, she was just using a phrase - Lie. Again, MicHELLe's comments are perfectly in sync with Wright's, Meeks', and Farrakhan's, both in language, anger, and direction.

One of your good pals is long time radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed Khalidi, Professor at Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS - Your church published a pro Hamas Manifesto - guess you weren't there on THAT Sunday either? How lucky for you.
60.) I have the best plan to cure the Mortgage Crisis - Lie. You and your campaign buddy Penny 'Sub Prime Bank Collapse' Prizker have had your little fingers full of subprime cash - Obama has taken $1,180,103 from the top issuers of subprime loans: Obama received $266,907 from Lehman, $5395 from GMAC, $150,850 from Credit Suisse First Boston, $11,250 from Countrywide, $9052 from Washington Mutual, $161,850 from Citigroup, $4600 from CBASS, $170,050 from Morgan Stanley, $1150 from Centex, and last but certainly NOT LEAST - Obama received $351,900 from Goldman Sachs. 61.) I played a greater role in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion - Lie - It was found that Obama -- the day after sitting for the interview -- filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama's own handwritten notes added to one answer. Read Obama had greater role on liberal survey. html version
We already know Barack Hussein Obama has no experience and no plan, but boy does he give great speeches.... or does he?
It is simple.....
We need McCain/Palin! We need to put our country first. We need the Republicans to take back Congress. We need the Fair Tax. Our economy needs the Fair Tax. Our troops need a team to put them first - McCain/Palin. McCain isn't another Bush - he worked under Reagan, Bush41, Clinton and Bush43. He is known for voting how he wants regardless of party. FYI, only 45% of time not the 90% that Obama claims. Obama, on the otherhand hasn't worked period. He has been on the campaign trail most of his time in the Senate. We don't need Obama. We don't need higher taxes which will come from Obama. We don't need his secret muslim beliefs. We don't need a racist first lady. We don't need socialized healthcare. We want to be able to choose our doctors and decide when we need to see a doctor. We don't want waiting lists for simple tests. We don't need a president who believes a baby is a "punishment". We don't need a president who flip flops on almost every issue - Obama. We don't need a president who doesn't have a record - Obama. Our children may not be able to recover from Obama. Don't put it off on our children to do what we need to do now.
Let's take back our country!!
Vote McCain/Palin!
Sadly, the media is going to choose the favorites for us rather than provide all the facts. From the facts that we've been given, I know that Obama doesn't acknowledge the American Flag or put his hand over his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance. I still have pride in our country and its icons such as the Pledge and Old Glory, so this scares the hell out of me.
I'm tired of paying for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, BUT I would prefer that the battle be fought across the seas rather than in our own country. I haven't forgotten the events of 091101, and although he doesn't acknowledge his Muslim heritage, Barack Hussein Obama's name also scares the hell out of me.
When I stand in front of the ballot box, I want to vote for the person that addresses the issues in which I'm most interested: the US borders, illegal immigrants, welfare reform, and the overall safety of our nation's citizens. It's my opinion only, but I wouldn't feel safe with Obama sitting at the desk of the Commander in Chief, so ultimately, I will cast my vote for McClain & Palin.
Personally I haven’t decided yet, I’m still looking at where they all stand on the issues that mean something to me; education, family, economy & Iraq.
By the way, because the Palin (with one L)family reside in Alaska, it doesn't necessarily mean either family branch evolved from Eskimos. Besides that, what's wrong with Eskimos? That comments seems, well, moronic.
Thanks Anonymous for catching that typo. Without spell check, Typos are easily made.
Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,
That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,
That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,
That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and
That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and if we get a Social Security check every month we are finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to Dwight Eisenhower
34th. President, Republican,
in 1958 the first year that Congress voted to remove funds from Social Security and put it into the General Fund for Congress to spend.
If I recall correctly, it was a democratically Controlled Congress. And From what I understand, the Congress logic at that time was that there was so much money in Social Security Fund that it would never run out / be used up for the purpose it was intended / set aside for. Then comes Lyndon Johnson 36th.President,a Democrat
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson a Democrat, and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party. Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Albert Gore, Jr. (Al Gore) casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S. Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That's right! (Jimmy Carter) a Democrat, and the Democratic Party. Voted to give
Immigrants who moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! TheDemocratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people read this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not,
Biden Said McCain supports tax breaks for oil companies, and "wants to give them another $4 billion tax cut."
Biden is repeating a favorite saw of the Obama campaign, and it's misleading. McCain supports a cut in income taxes for all corporations, and doesn't single out any one industry for that benefit.
During the debate, Biden said, "Oh, on clean coal. My record, just take a look at the record! My record for 25 years has supported clean coal technology.”.... However, during an early campaign stop once he was announced as VP Candidate, Biden said, "No coal plants here in America. If they’re going to build them, over there [China]. Make them clean. We’re not supporting clean coal.”. One of the most upsetting lines last night in the debate was Biden's attempt to say that he didn't know he was voting on a War resolution? I'm sorry but someone who has been in the Senate since Nixon didn't know he was voting on a War resolution when he voted on the Iraq War! Let me ask you people does he think we are stupid? Or is he just stupid? Either way if a seasoned senator doesn't know when he's voting on a war resolution we have bigger problems in Washington then we know! And we certainly do not need a VP like that sitting with an inexperienced president! If you think things are unstable now wait and see what will happen if God Forbid Obama and Biden get to the White House… Sarah Palin did great last night. She was able to manipulate the debate by bringing the talking points back to the issues that she wanted to talk about to the American people! McCain / Palin will be a breath of fresh air for this country and will make a great president and vice president. The age of Obama will end November 4th
NOBAMA.
How much has the McCain camp paid you for all this smack talk you have been dishing out? The majority of what you have said has been lies or distorted truths....therfore, I know you work for McCain...
Good luck on Nov 4th......I can't wait to see what you write in on Nov 5th after Obama wins in the biggest landslide in recent history.
Are you going to move to Canada????
Go Obama......kick some butt

Now, forgive me but I don't see a reason to vote for the most Liberal Muslim ( Christian ) Senator in the Senate.
*****According to the Book of Revelations :
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's of Muslim descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and a MASSIVE CHRIST-like appeal.....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
*****And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity of all times the people of America want to elect. to the most powerful position in the world -----The Presidency of the United States of America-----a male of Muslim descent who is known to be the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress ( in other words an extremist ) and in his 40's.
************Have the American people lost their mind or just their power of reason???
I'm sorry but I for one refuse to take a chance on the "unknown" candidate Obama...
As the writer of the award winning story that we all have seen at one time or other "Forest Gump " so aptly put it 'Stupid is as Stupid does!
So now, remembering all of the above can you justify a vote for the unknown out of no where Senator Barack Obama?
He beleive in abortion for all you "Christians!!"
Everybody get the facts, make an educated decision and get out and vote.
Now for me, it is McCain and the reason is I see change coming cause.Any man that picks a female Governor for his running mate, must be focused on change. That's a huge step, risk, accomplishment to make the move to go forward. Must I remind you that it is 2008, not 1958.
Another thing I won't vote based on the color of a man's skin and you shouldn't iether.
I am not telling you who to vote for nor support-I am just asking that you quit depending on the TV to make your decisions for you and do a little research and educate yourself. We all know news channels today are owned..by both the Dems and Rep. Thank God there is the big ole internet now and sites such as factcheck.org that are non-partisan and just tell us the facts.
I am asking you not to carry so much anger and hate for those who differ from you and live by the Bible so many hide behind. Let's honor those kids who have died for us and respect that we are a country of freedom of choices and opinions even if they do not agree with ours.
Since when is it hatred and intolerance to evaluate candidates on both their positive AND negative attributes? Don’t you think it is just a little bit foolish and ignorant to only consider a candidate’s positive attributes when making a decision? Sometimes the negatives can give you a clearer picture of who a candidate really is and what they stand for. Past actions (including voting records) and personal associations often speak louder than lofty rhetoric.
I agree with you that we should all have the right to freely express our opinions, but it is not “hatred, intolerance, racism and just plain ole meanness” when someone exercises their freedom to question factual basis and soundness of judgment expressed in these opinions.
On this note, you should have searched the “big ole internet” and done a little more research if you were going to cite websites such as factcheck.org that are “non-partisan and just tell us the facts”. Factcheck.org is a project of the Annenberg Foundation – the same Annenberg Foundation which funded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. In case you need a refresher, terrorist William Ayers wrote the grant proposal for Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and Barack Obama was the founding chairman of the board and president of Chicago Annenberg Challenge. How on earth is factcheck.org non-partisan and just telling us the facts? This is blaringly obvious bias.
Now before you start regurgitating popular left-wing talking points, I did not see this on Fox News, hear it on Rush Limbaugh, read it in an email claiming Obama is a muslim, or any other supposed Republican spin mechanisms. This is a matter of public record. Granted, during this election cycle, I have found Obama supporters severely ill-equipped to argue on the basis of facts. Most Obama supporters can't even give you an intelligible reason why they are voting for Obama. It seems any time facts are presented that do not support Obama, Obama supporters will claim hatred, intolerance, racism, and accuse you of mudslinging and merely smearing the character of their chosen candidate and trying to divide the country. Again, it’s just naïve and downright foolish to only consider a candidate’s positive attributes.
Sometimes the facts just don’t logically support the position you have chosen to take. That doesn’t mean that citing facts is the equivalent of spewing hatred. Our country needs to make an informed decision in this election, but I’m afraid far too many people are just sticking their heads in the sand and irrationally believing Obama is magically going to fix all of our problems. Just because someone bases their decision on an objective evaluation of the facts does not mean they have a “hard heart and an unforgiving soul”. It may just mean they have an open mind and common sense.
You are just proving my case as far as the "intolerance" I speak of. Just because I question the way the McCain campaign has been vicious, and you in your heart of hearts know they have, I must have "my head in the sand" or am "ill-equipped" hummm you must have missed the part when I stated that I am neither dem. nor rep. so I wouldn't know all the "left-wing talking points" you speak of.
I do know I have seen and heard enough hatred.(yes when you get crowds screaming "kill him" it is hatred) and this "Pro-American" "Anti-American" to make me turn a deaf ear to your party.
I agree with you about looking at candidates bad side also. However, it is frustrating that your party only wants to do that with Obama. When darling Sarah is questioned "She's getting picked on" If you could tell me about Obama's "flaws" and then admit to McCain and Sarah's I would listen.
Ayers - yes that concerns me- however Palin's association with the Alaskan Independence Party (Have seen a video of her addressing them) and McCain's association with Liddy (Admitted by McCain himself)also concern me greatly.
Rev. Wright - Yes a concern however - Palin's preacher running "witches" out of town also concerning. (Also video taped herself)
Obama's promises - Do I believe them all..No-Palin - hiding behind her child Trig but yet cuts funding for "special needs families in Alaska 60%!
Campaign Funding - Another thing on my mind -Obama so much.- Palin -spending $150,000 on a "dress make over" ???
Muslim - Terrorist? That is just proving to me the ignorance that Palin is hoping people have.
Obama's inexperience - yes another concern - humm come on now..do you really think Sarah is experienced?
I truly liked McCain in the past but I am sorry..he can not control this "hate monger" he has chosen as his VP.
Now Jeff, I like to talk openly about these points to help make a decision, however again, as you have just proven, there is not tolerance for questions just hypocritical "Discuss Obmama but not us" attitude. To me, this is what is costing McCain the independent votes I know it has cost him my, ignorant, ill-equipped, sand buried head, left-wing spouting, (did I miss one?) vote.
As far my “head in the sand” comment, perhaps my language was a little harsh, but to prove my point try to answer a few questions.
Do you feel the US is more vulnerable to a terrorist attack under an Obama presidency or a McCain presidency? (consider Joe Biden’s comments this past week concerning Obama being tested by an international crisis in his first six months).
Do you remember the economic state of the US after the terrorist attacks of 9/11? Among other things, how do you think a terrorist attack would affect our already fragile economy?
Are terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda monitoring the US election? Who do you think Al-Qaeda’s choice for president would be?
Do you feel it is pro-American or anti-American to espouse an economic plan that closely mirrors the socialistic ideals of Marxism?
Can you name any society in which state-sponsored socialism has actually worked?
Do you deserve to keep the money you earn, or should it be redistributed to others?
Are you more likely to get a good job from a rich person or a poor person?
Do you think business owners will accept the fact they will have less money in their pocket after a tax increase, or do you think they will cover their losses in the form of payroll reductions (i.e. layoffs)?
In the present economy, why is Obama considering raising taxes on anyone? In addition, can you name any areas of government spending cuts proposed by Obama outside of national defense?
Most Obama supporters either refuse to answer these questions (often claiming these questions are just preying on fear) or are incapable of answering these questions, but I feel that if you answer them honestly, you would be hard pressed to vote for Obama without figuratively having your “head in the sand”. It is not intolerance trying to do your part to make sure someone has considered all the issues involved. Also, when you mention the “hypocritical” attitude of “discuss Obama but us”, I don’t believe this is intolerant either. The mainstream media has been giving Obama a free pass on too many issues, and when a large part of the electorate is just voting for the lesser of two evils, someone has to do something to open eyes blinded by the hype surrounding a national celebrity. Both candidates have their flaws, and they are both using less than desirable tactics. I admit that McCain and Palin have their flaws, but they pale in comparison to the other option when basing your opinion on an honest evaluation of the issues and not just the warm fuzzies of false hope. Keep in mind that it is not just McCain trying to draw attention to the opponent’s flaws. Do you remember Obama sending a team to Alaska to try to dig up dirt on Palin when it became apparent she was an asset to the Republican ticket? How about the Obama camp grasping at straws in trying to link McCain to different pastors, donors, George W. Bush, etc.? You mentioned complaining about Palin “getting picked on”, but what about negative criticism of Obama always being interpreted as being racist or intolerant or differing viewpoints. It works both ways. Again, speaking the truth, albeit sometimes negative, does not make one a “hate monger”. Your mention of Palin’s alleged flaws could be interpreted as hate speech on the same basis that you interpret my comments as hateful.
As far as the left-wing talking points comment, I have found that on most occasions when facts are presented that are not favorable to Obama and Obama supporters do not have an answer, the stock answer is “You need to quit watching Fox news”. This comment was intended more to the general audience. I apologize if I offended you personally. I’m just tired of hearing the lousy comebacks I listed. The comeback I’ve really been waiting for (apparently in vain) has been an actual reason for voting for Obama.
I do have one bonus question:
Do you seriously believe that G. Gordon Liddy, a man who broke into the Watergate building to spy on the democratic party, is the equivalent of Williams Ayers, a terrorist who bombed the NYC Police Headquarters, the US Capitol, the Pentagon, and poses for photo opportunities standing disrespectfully on the American flag? Would it be intolerant of your viewpoint to call this comparison a stretch?
Honestly I do not feel we are at more risk with Obama. I feel with McCain's "Stay there for 100 years" and Palin's "Power hunger" will put us at even greater risk. Biden's comment was not the smartest I know, however, I think like several things it has been taken out of context and is another great example of how the McCain campaign wants you to look at only Obama's woes. I am sure you watch the interview with Brian Williams when this comment was brought up, Brian asked about - Joe Leiberman who said the exact same thing.
Terrorist attacks - I feel that if we can not find a way to unite this country again it is not going to matter who is in charge. You have to admit that we are (as it stands now) our own cancer. Now that would in Palin's views make me "Anti-American" even though as she "charmed her way through Alaska politics" my family was living without a husband and father while he served his country.
Al-Qaeda - I have to admit that I do need to educate myself more on this before I vote -Until I do, I can only speculate if I were them I kinda would want a woman in there that clearly has no clue what's going on and who seems to be so power hungry she will "self destroy" this nation and divide like never before. Example - How many times has she over stepped her bounds with McCain going against him with that "If I were the one calling the shots" she over talked interrupted and talked at and over McCain like he is an old fool. I wanted to smack her for him. He has forgotten more than she will ever know.
"Pro-American" vs "Anti-American" I think that "Anti-American" is such an out of line and insulting name and was a major turn off to all of us "independent" ones. It kills me to hear that my family has served in the military for years. My father is a "Purple Heart" my uncle died in war my husband served in Dessert Storm so she can have the right to call me "Anti-American" just because I may feel differently? Think about this one.
The economics plans - well you have to admit that we have been trying the "trickle down" effect for years now and look where we are. Great example - Proctor and Gamble - record profits still laid off thousands of hard working American citizens. I do believe that if the middle class (which is dying) is the back bone of this country and if they are doing better they spend more and the companies make more. the "Trickle up" effect.
"1950 and 1980. Worker productivity rose by 93 percent during that period, and wages rose by 89 percent. (American presidents) simply respected one of the cardinal rules of economic growth—if you want output and profits to grow, you have to have consumers with the buying power to purchase those products." (NewsHoggers.com)
I do not think Obama is socialism can you do me a favor and answer to me - What is true definition of socialism? I think if you google it you will find that this argument is way off base.
Yes keep my money of course. How do you explain to me.."Corporate Welfare"? I would rather see my neighbor who has cancer and no health insurance get it. To sum up - I will let John McCain answer this one for me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNke6ad0t6g
McCain himself in 2000. "If you make more you should pay more" PRICELESS!
Let's not forget good ole "Joe the Plumber" having been caught in all his lies and being so against charity and "spreading his wealth of a whole $40,000/year" why did he find it acceptable to receive money from "other people" to pay his delinquent taxes and get that plumber's license he doesn't even posses?
Hummm - maybe HE needed help like alot of good, hard working Americans.
The job theory. Well thanks to past and present politicians the "real rich" companies with those "real good jobs" are no longer in the US so there is no job here to give me. If giving them tax break after tax break and loop holes in the taxes they have hasn't made a difference as we all know by the unemployment rate. Why would I think that even MORE tax breaks will help me?
Business owners - I think that "Big Business" will pad their pockets no matter what. This is a proven fact. However, like my brother who owns a "Small Business" will get a tax break under Obama (He doesn't make enough revenue for McCain's cut)and this will help our "Mom and Pop" places that this country was built on.
Taxes - I agree that with this economy, taxes should get a break. However, in that same breath I can ask..."With our current economy why would you raise taxes but why would you loose what revenue we have to cut taxes for "Corporate America"? In my opinion Leave taxes alone right now.
Good ole Gordon Liddy.
Let's not under mind what he is. Example:
A quote from him to his listeners in 1994 -
In 1994, after the disastrous federal raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, he gave some advice to his listeners: "Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. ... Kill the sons of bitches."
he proposed to kidnap anti-war activists so they couldn't disrupt the 1972 Republican National Convention? The ones that inspired him to plan the murder (never carried out) of an unfriendly newspaper columnist?
Liddy was in the thick of the biggest political scandal in American history -- and one of the greatest threats to the rule of law. He has said he has no regrets about what he did, insisting that he went to jail as "a prisoner of war."
Do you not consider him encouraging his listeners to take arms against our government (yes I consider the ATF a government body), kidnapping fellow Americans because they differed from him and shout things such as "KILL THE SONS OF BITCHES" "Pro-American"? Seriously?????
Now Jeff I hope I have been successful in giving you answers to your questions as to why I am thinking the way I am. I have to say I respect that you are the first one from the McCain supports that has my ears perked because you are talking with great intelligence and not just ignorant name calling. I thank you for that. However with all due respect you "generalized" the questions I presented to you earlier.
Palin and the AIP
Palin $150,000 wardrobe
Palin and the cuts for special needs in Alaska
Palin and her knowledge about...well...about anything even her "job description"
Palin's "witch hunting preacher"
I will quit there because I understand she is far harder to defend because she allows people to see this non-sense coming from her own mouth so we can't even play "he said - she said".
McCain - Voting record on military defense (ranks 20% with DAV)
McCain - breaks and corporate welfare
McCain - Association with Liddy
just to hit a few points.
I will look forward to your next response and thank you for your information even though with all do respect I feel some of it I have a different interpretation of.
Ohhhh - almost forgot - I found another tid bit for you. - You claimed that factcheck.org was basically biased toward Obama - I must ask - why is it then -
"The president and chairwoman of the foundation, Leonore Annenberg, born in 1918, has endorsed John McCain in the 2008 presidential election. " ???
Concerning the terrorism issue, we simply cannot afford to have a terrorist attack on US soil in our current economic state. Now, if you were a terrorist, would you be more likely to carry out an attack if you expected to face the aftermath of negotiations without preconditions likely resulting in appeasement, or would you be more likely to attack if you faced the certainty of military retaliation likely resulting in an expedited rendezvous with Allah? While we may or may not be more at risk with Obama, perception often shapes reality. Earlier this year, polling in Europe from Pew Research Center indicated that 58 percent of Europeans wanted the US weakened. Polling in Europe from Gallup found similar margins in finding that Europeans prefer Obama as the next president of the United States. From this polling data, it looks like Europeans who want the US weakened prefer Obama as president. Regardless of whether Obama would actually make us weaker, this is the perception of the rest of the world. It only makes since that terrorists would be more likely to attack if they perceived that the US was weaker. It’s worth noting that a few days ago an endorsement for McCain was posted on an Al-Qaeda website. They are obviously counting on their “support” benefitting Obama. Remember that Al-Qaeda used similar reverse psychology tactics in the 2004 election. How quickly we forget the Bin Laden video that surfaced four days before the 2004 election condemning President Bush. If you get the chance, you should look up the transcript of this video. Besides Bin Laden sounding surprisingly similar to a lot of the campaign ads on TV right now, you have to wonder what would happen if we had someone in office who would meet with characters such as Osama bin Laden or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without preconditions. Would this person take these terrorists at their word, believing they are sincere? Would this person be naïve enough to believe progress is being made when in reality we are being lulled to sleep? I think John McCain has better judgment than to fall into their trap of perpetual appeasement.
Concerning the economic plans, when you look up the definition of socialism, specify Marxist socialism. The definition of Marxist socialism should clarify the argument. The classic mantra of Marxism is “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”. When Obama speaks of “spreading the wealth”, doesn’t it sound like socialism? Marx mentioned the class disparity between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. Obama addresses this inequality by proposing raising taxes on the top income brackets not for increasing government revenue but for “fairness”. If there is a reason other than socialism for this I would like to hear it, especially considering that tax revenue has increased since tax cuts Obama wants to repeal were implemented. Obama has a history of socialism having been a member of the Chicago affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America and being caught on tape calling for redistribution of wealth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck). I feel that this runs contrary to our founding fathers’ emphasis on freedom and opportunity for the individual. With the link dealing with McCain’s stance on taxes in 2000, I would first like to hear a version that hasn’t been cut and spliced as much as this one. I suspect I’m hearing this out of context, but nevertheless I feel there is a difference in a progressive tax system if the purpose is to increase revenue to avoid a deficit (assuming wasteful spending has been addressed beforehand) and not to just promote “fairness” and income redistribution. Personally, I am in favor of the Fair Tax which I feel would solve a litany of problems. In the primary debates, McCain expressed curiosity about the Fair Tax, so I’m optimistically hoping there’s still a chance.
Concerning corporate welfare, I think tax breaks for corporations are irrelevant. Most corporations don’t actually pay taxes. I would like to know specifically what you are referring to before I address it. Since you mentioned this with corporate welfare, I am not in favor of requiring all corporations to provide health insurance. I think jobs will be eliminated to make up the cost.
Concerning Gordon Liddy, there is a HUGE difference between words and actions. I’m not standing up for him, but Liddy never carried out an act of terrorism like William Ayers. As far as McCain’s association, he didn’t listen and adhere to Liddy’s hate speech in the same manner Obama did with Jeremiah Wright for over twenty years. There is a big difference. As far as I am concerned, Liddy is a non-factor. It’s just the best the Obama camp can use as a counterattack. It’s probably a better response than “I attended that church for twenty years but never inhaled!”
To answer your more specific questions:
Palin and the AIP: Records show that Sarah Palin was never a member of the AIP. She just addressed their convention. This is no different than a Democrat addressing the Republican convention, or vice versa. Realistically, the AIP is pretty much just a states rights party adhering to conservative views, but they are only known to the national audience by the secessionist movement in the party. Records show Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982. I don’t think her connection to the AIP is a big deal.
Palin $150,000 Wardrobe: This one I just don’t get. If there is a silver lining, it is that Palin herself didn’t make this decision. It came from the party image consultants who were concerned with her image. I guess since there are a lot of people who vote based on image and perception and not the issues, they were probably trying to go after this segment of the electorate. I purchased most of my wardrobe either second hand or at the outlet malls during the 70 percent off sales, so I’m probably not the most qualified person to comment on expensive clothing and image (maybe I need a consultation!). But since we are talking about campaign waste, I am curious as to what amount the Obama campaign has spent on his upcoming infomercial.
Palin and the cuts for special needs in Alaska: You needed a little more research. The special needs budget item that was cut 62% was a program called “Alaska Challenge Youth Academy”. This was included in 2007 but was moved to a separate budget item in 2008, and funding was increased under the separate budget item.
Palin and her knowledge: Does her experience and record as governor and mayor not count for anything? How is her experience so much more inferior to that of a first-term US senator with no executive experience in public office? If you’re just referring to the awkward TV interviews, it seems like Palin’s interviews should be a moot point compared to instances where Obama has to speak without a teleprompter; however, unlike Obama, Palin is not getting a free pass from the media (most of whom are biased due to their desire to solidify their place in journalism history by reporting on the election of the first half African-American president).
Palin’s “witch hunting preacher”: Again, you needed a little more research. Thomas Muthee was a guest speaker at Palin’s church who prayed over her. He is from Kenya, and he did ask a witch to leave town in Kenya. It’s hardly a hunting the witch when you have local government officials afraid to make decisions without first consulting the local witch. His prayer for Palin is the only connection. Not quite the Reverend Wright everyone was hoping for.
McCain – Voting record on military defense: Same thing with needing more research. The DAV ratings are based on veterans affairs voting records, not military defense voting records. The vast percentage of veterans affairs bills have unrelated appropriations and earmarks attached. McCain was not voting against veterans, he was voting against wasteful pork barrel spending.
McCain – breaks and corporate welfare: If you can provide specific examples I will be happy to address them. Although I am aware how the term corporate welfare is typically used, I’m not totally sure what you’re looking for.
McCain – Association with Liddy: See above.
Leonore Annenberg: This is just a thought, but if your organization funded an unrepentant terrorist to educate children, how transparent would you be about it?
I hope this response has adequately addressed your questions.
Have you ever held a job that required a simple background investigation or a security clearance? For much of my time in the Army, my duties required that I have a top secret security clearance. The special background investigation conducted to get and then maintain a top secret security clearance is quite extensive. One must provide 15 years of personal history consisting of references, credit records, relatives, neighbors, affiliations with organizations, workplaces, schools and you name it - and they are all checked. Each 5 years thereafter, all of the information must be updated and checked again. Your life is an open book and if you try to hide any of that your security clearance is lost and you could face serious criminal charges for hiding it. Some of my military jobs required that I be trusted with critically sensitive national security information. The security clearances, which gave me access to information that certainly would damage our national security if it ended up in the wrong hands, was not as high as a Whitehouse level security clearance.
So, whenever I hear about a politician, especially one who wants to be our president, refusing to release documents about his personal life it makes me distrust that person with the security of my family and country. Anyone who is not bothered by that either does not realize what is at stake or is just plain ignorant of the world in which we live and the potential for the rapid destruction of our country by our enemies. With the stroke of a pen, the President of the United States can declassify sensitive national security information. When your political alliances include self-admitted communists and people who think it is cute to have their pictures taken standing on the American flag that for me is a problem. Don’t you find it disconcerting that Privates in the Army who work with sensitive information and equipment are more investigated and must meet more stringent security requirements than a potential Commander in Chief? I do.
Remember 2004? Dan Rather produced fraudulent and forged documents about George Bush’s military service. Everything about President Bush was scrutinized and largely mischaracterized by the media. John Kerry on the other hand was defended. John Kerry who refused then and still refuses to release his complete military records. Before it was sent into cyber hell, I reviewed the DD Form 214 that John Kerry posted on his website. Within 30 seconds, I saw problems that the average person without knowledge of such records would not have noticed. One of his awards was listed as a Silver Star Medal with a V device. It was clearly an amateurish attempt to present a hero to Americans. In case you might not know it, a Silver Star is awarded for Combat Valor. There is no V device (for Valor) affixed to a Sliver Star. The V device is affixed to awards that are given for Combat Valor when the same award might also be earned for meritorious achievement. Examples are the Bronze Star Medal or the Army Commendation Medal. The second red flag on Mr. Kerry’s DD 214 was the annotation on his discharge concerning a review by a Board of Officers in the authority for discharge. The only reason this annotation would appear on a DD 214 is that if a Board of Officers were required to review for upgrade an Other than Honorable Discharge. If you need your memory refreshed, Thomas Lipscomb wrote interesting articles about Mr. Kerry's records. The authors of Fake Warriors talked about it. Mr. Kerry could have cleared up any mystery or allegation simply by releasing all of his military records for public scrutiny. He did not and the mainstream American media while campaigning for him did not insist that he do it either. Mr. Kerry had plenty of questionable political alliances and even documented meetings with the North Vietnamese in Paris while he was still a Naval Reserve officer that was also not addressed in the media. If all of this was widely reported, this charlatan would not have had even a tiny chance of being elected to the Presidency. Fortunately, enough of his history was known to prevent his election.
I only rehashed Mr. Kerry’s questionable record and history to demonstrate for you a pattern of deception by liberal candidates and their supportive Pravda like media sycophants attempting to conceal information that voters should know. This is the most dangerous combination in the history of our country. The world's worst and most dangerous leaders gained power under similar circumstances. Now, we have a candidate that refuses to release what should be harmless documents - his birth and school records. I am not trying to infer anything one way or the other concerning these records. Only that someone who wants to be my President and hold the security of my family and country in his hands should be happy to release documents that tell me who he is. You and I have a right to know. He has an obligation to tell us. The media has an obligation to insist that he does. When there is a refusal to release records, like John Kerry, I can only conclude that there is something to hide.
Would you allow someone to sit with your children or to protect your other most precious possessions “ like freedom - if you didn’t know everything possible to know about them?
